How to get your Lucid license through Canvas: Teacher guide

Accessing Lucid via Canvas

1. Navigate to Lucid
   Inside your course, click on "Lucid" from the course navigation toolbar.
   
   

2. Verify course information
   On your first visit, you’ll need to verify some details.

   • Confirm your role [1].
   • Indicate if your course includes users under 13 years of age [2].
   • Click "Next" [3].
     
     

3. Request COPPA Consent
   If your course includes users under 13, your institution must provide COPPA consent.

   • To initiate this, enter your email in the Email field [1].
   • Click "Contact Lucid" [2] to request Lucid to contact your institution.
     
     

Connecting Lucid to Canvas

4. Connect your Lucid account
   After verifying user age or obtaining COPPA consent, click "Connect" to link your Lucid account to Canvas.
   
   

5. Log In to Lucid

   • If you already have a Lucid account, click "Log in" [1]. A new browser tab will open for sign-in.
   • If you’re new to Lucid, click "Sign up" [2] and follow the prompts to create a free account.
     
     

6. Confirm Lucid connection
   Once logged in, click "Connect to Lucid" to link your accounts.
   Note: If this page doesn’t appear, try refreshing your Canvas browser tab.
   
   
   

7. Confirm Lucid Educational plan
   Your account will be upgraded to a free educational plan. Click "Continue" to acknowledge this.
   
   

8. Finalizing the connection

   • To complete the setup, click "Get Started."
   • Review the access request in the new browser tab, then click "Grant Access."
     
     
     

Using Your Lucid dashboard

9. Explore your Lucid Dashboard
   You’ll be directed to your Lucid Dashboard, where you can:

   • Create new documents
   • Access all your saved Lucid documents
   • Browse through ready-to-use templates
     
     

10. Embedding Lucid in Canvas
    Now that your Lucid account is connected, learn how to embed collaborative activities directly into Canvas and assign them to students.
